"Mahi Mahi" Wall Hanging 50" x 19.5" P101
This Maui Mahi Mahi design was created in 2014 and has been acquired by clients nationally and internationally since its debut Mahi-mahi means "strong strong" in Hawaiian. These elegant hand sculpted dolphin wall art handmade on the island of Maui, Hawaii, in my studio “Ceramic Designs by Albert.” The driftwood is gathered from Paukukalo shoreline, one of Maui’s exceptional pristine surf and dive beaches. This particular 3-panel piece is titled "Maui Mahi Mahi" which means in Hawaii "Strong Strong" and the design has its intricate relief design giving it a distinctive 3D appearance. The glaze finish is the highest quality cone five glazes we can obtain in the USA, so the weather will not affect the shine/luster, or the brilliant hues, and it’s non-toxic. This piece has a beautiful array of seven to eight plus mixed glaze colors allowing for additional colors to come forth during the firing that allows each piece to be distinctive in its remarkable way.
The actual clay body consists of porcelain and stoneware clay giving it durability yet allowing the glazes shine to excel in its spectacular hues. This piece can be used indoors or outdoors, in cold or hot climates. To support the wall art, we attach a heavy gauge wire hook attached to the back so you can easily hang it on the wall as wall art, however, if you’re planning to tile the Mahi as a kitchen backsplash or use the title as bathroom and pool tile no hook is attached.
Approximate Measurements: 50” from end to end and 23″ from top of driftwood to bottom of ceramic plaque, entire weight is 31.5 lbs. Without the driftwood, measurement is 50” x 19 ¾ approximately. The panels can be spaced apart about ½" to 1 ½", your preference. We use twisted Sisal Rope, 48 lb. to hold the ceramic piece and driftwood to each other.
If we're sold out of the “Maui Mahi Mahi” wall art piece, the turnaround time to create another one takes from start to finish approximately 4 to 5 weeks.
When hanging the plaques: drywall hooks is what I recommend for the pieces if you're attaching this piece on drywall, a brand name I use as a hook is Monkey Hook 10 to 15 lb. unless the wall constructed of wood then use screws or nails, cement wall uses cement screws.
My Wall Art designs inspire many clients to fashion a tropical Hawaiian theme in their home, regardless if they live in Hawaii, Texas, New York, Canada or anywhere else on our diverse planet. Bring some Aloha into your life from Maui!
